ART institute trip reflection
This is the second time I came to Art Institute of Chicago, it gave me different feeling to the first time. First, we watched Gustave Caillebotte’s Paris Street, which so big and real that catch my eyes. It looks like a real view. The buildings and the shadows, a women holding an umbrella, let me know that it is raining, although there no rain on the painting. The painting not only showing the artist’s skills, but also showing his life. Then we went to next room and saw different style painting -- A Sunday Afternoon on the La Grance Jatte. There are many trees and people, most of the color are green, looks so nice, makes me peaceful. My partner, Joel, said it made him enjoyable, it made he happy. I think the painting is showing what people want their life will be. Second, we saw many of Van Gogh works, I am so excited to see his real works. I can see his painting style change between works and works. The painting style before 1888 looks so simple and most of them I can feel happy in it. The painting style after 1888 had huge changed, it looks dark and sad. I know the reason is Van Gogh had argument with Ganuguin in 1888, and Van Gogh cut his ear. This is what I learn from my classmate.
